The Technical University Administrators’ Association of Ghana (TUAAG) has announced that it will call off its ongoing strike today following official approval from the Ministry of Finance to implement revised allowances.
The National Chairman of TUAAG, Gerald Anamjongya, speaking to ABC News this afternoon, confirmed the development, stating, “we are satisfied,” and adding that “all we wanted was just to give the go ahead to effect the implementation.”
This breakthrough follows a formal letter from the Ministry of Finance dated May 21, 2025, which grants approval for the implementation of a negotiated agreement involving TUAAG, the Senior Staff Association–University of Ghana (SSA-UoG), and the Federation of Senior Staff Association of Ghana (FUSSAG).
The agreement provides for new, improved rates of allowances for eligible staff within the tertiary education sector. The revised allowances are scheduled to take effect from November 1, 2024.
The Ministry has instructed relevant departments to enforce the approval immediately, while also clarifying that other allowances not included in the revision will continue to be paid under existing government rates.
