Governance expert Dr. Frederick Oduro has called on political parties to strictly adhere to the legal processes available for contesting the results of the 2024 elections.
Speaking on the importance of upholding the rule of law, Dr. Oduro urged politicians to refrain from undermining legal structures and avoid making unfounded allegations of election rigging.
His comments come in the wake of the signing of the Peace Pact by presidential candidates on Thursday, which sought to promote unity and peace ahead of the elections.
Dr. Oduro also emphasized the importance of accepting electoral outcomes, even in the event of a loss.
“Admit results when you lose,” he stated, urging political leaders to set an example for their followers by respecting the democratic process.
He warned that inciting party members to disrupt the process or question the legitimacy of the results could undermine the country’s peace and stability.
Highlighting the significance of peaceful elections, Dr. Oduro further stressed that political parties must adhere to lawful channels to seek redress if they believe there are grounds for contesting the results.
