Renowned Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo has passed away at the age of 63.
Reports according to Myjoyonline.com confirm that he died on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital, where he was receiving treatment for severe burns sustained in a fire accident.
The tragic incident occurred on February 8, 2025, when Semevo’s home caught fire while he was asleep.
Judith Addison of Beyond Burns International, a non-profit organization advocating for burn survivors, revealed that the actor had suffered burns covering 44% of his body, including respiratory injuries that severely impacted his ability to breathe.
“From his head to his legs, everywhere caught fire, and he has lost all his hair,” Addison stated in a social media video update.
The severity of his condition was later confirmed by fellow actors Ken Fiati and Edinam Atatsi, who urged support for their colleague. Despite medical efforts, Semevo succumbed to his injuries.
Mawuli Semevo was celebrated for his exceptional performances on stage and in films.
His acting credits include Harvest at 17, A Stab in the Dark, Escape of Love, Like Cotton Twines, and The Good Old Days: The Love of AA. His passing marks a great loss to the Ghanaian film industry, where he was widely admired for his artistry and dedication.
