The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has officially released the provisional results for the 2023 Ghana-only version of the WASSCE for school candidates. In a press statement dated December 18, 2023, WAEC indicated that it will furnish school heads with login details to facilitate access to their candidates’ results.
This release marks the most commendable performance in the past four years, spanning from 2020 to 2023, according to the performance statistics disclosed by WAEC.
Despite this positive outcome, the Council highlighted that it has taken disciplinary actions against cases of examination malpractices. Thus, results for specific subjects from 235 schools have been withheld due to candidates providing answers generated by artificial intelligence during the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).
Furthermore, the results of 3,647 candidates were canceled for introducing foreign materials like prepared notes, textbooks, and printed materials into the examination halls.
In addition to these cancellations, the results for 839 candidates were invalidated due to the possession of mobile phones during the examination. Also, WAEC has withheld subject results for 4,280 candidates and the entire results for 1,005 individuals on suspicion of various infractions.
