The Electoral Commission (EC) has refuted allegations by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that it is deliberately delaying the voter exhibition process.
Dr. Serebuor Quaicoe, Director of Training at the EC, stressed that his organization is not pressured by any political party and is operating within the legal framework.
“By law, we are supposed to give the political parties the provision when they are ready. We are not being pressured; when they are ready, we will make it available,” he stated during an interview with ABC News Ghana.
Addressing accusations of delays by the NDC, Dr. Quaicoe clarified that the EC has a 90-day period to compile the voter provision after collecting data.

He explained that additional steps, including identification processes, must be completed before the final register can be issued.
“I will not term it as a delay; the law says we have 90 days… we are hoping they can get them over the weekend,” he added, assuring that the final register would be of high quality following the exhibition.
The Director of Elections for the NDC, Dr. Boamah, had earlier expressed frustration, accusing the EC of incompetence and suggesting that the current delays could undermine the electoral process.
In a Facebook post, Dr. Boamah warned that the EC’s approach could lead to serious consequences if not addressed promptly.
However, Dr. Quaicoe urged patience, emphasizing that the thoroughness of the exhibition process is crucial for ensuring a reliable final register.
