President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has disclosed that the One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative has successfully generated employment for 160,000 Ghanaians, spread across 169 factories operating under the initiative. He shared this information during the commissioning of the state-of-the-art Koforidua Sports Stadium, also known as the Youth Resource Center, which is the first among ten similar stadia with accompanying facilities being constructed nationwide.

Furthermore, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the growth in the tourism sector, indicating that it has created 277,985 jobs, a 10% increase from the previous year. Additionally, he mentioned plans to provide training for 6,000 young individuals involved in various roles within the tourism value chain, including cooks, security personnel, and tour guides, with a focus on talent development in the sector throughout 2024.

“Just as the 1D1F initiative, under which we have provided employment for some 160,000 Ghanaians across a hundred and 169 new factories,”

In addition, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo revealed that the YouStart program, designed to assist young individuals in establishing commercially viable businesses, will receive financial support totaling GH¢200 million and US$150 million from the World Bank. These funds are dedicated to fostering youth enterprises and addressing the issue of youth unemployment by providing substantial financial backing to the YouStart initiative.
