The Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has issued a stern warning to individuals attempting to impersonate security personnel during the Special Voting exercise.
Speaking at a meeting with representatives of various political parties on December 3, 2024, Dr. Akuffo Dampare condemned the illegal practice and assured the public that the National Election Security Task Force would take decisive action against such offenders.
The meeting, held at the National Election Security Task Force Press Center, was focused on addressing security concerns ahead of the upcoming December 7 elections.
During the meeting, Dr. Akuffo Dampare commended political leaders for maintaining peace and order throughout the election process thus far. He praised the efforts of political executives at all levels, acknowledging their cooperation in ensuring a smooth election environment.
“We are grateful and we commend you, your leadership at the very highest level and executives across the country for how far we’ve comported ourselves since the whole process began,” he stated.
The IGP concluded with a call for continued peaceful behavior as the country moves toward the general election.
“Our plea is for us to finish and finish very well, to the glory of God and for the benefit of this country,” he urged.
Dr. Akuffo Dampare emphasized that security forces are prepared to handle any threats to the integrity of the election process and will remain vigilant to ensure a peaceful and secure environment on Election Day.
