The Electoral Commission (EC) has urged the public to disregard a viral video circulating on social media that allegedly shows copies of the Voters Register for Ahafo Ano 1 and 2 being transported in a white pick-up truck.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the EC clarified that the registers shown in the video are not official documents of the Commission.
They explained that their official registers are printed in black and white, contrary to the colored versions displayed in the video.
The EC further emphasized that the Final Register is only shared with political parties, who are responsible for printing copies for their agents’ use.
Additionally, the truck featured in the video does not belong to the Commission.
The EC described the video as an attempt to sow mistrust and suspicion around its operations.
Deputy Chairman of the EC, Samuel Tettey, called on the Police to investigate the incident, noting that the registration number of the vehicle in the video could provide crucial leads.
He assured the public of the Commission’s commitment to transparency and urged Ghanaians to rely on verified information regarding the electoral process.
