The police have successfully recovered a Nissan Pick-Up that was stolen from the office of Ursula Owusu, the outgoing Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West.
The vehicle was taken by unidentified individuals on Monday, December 9, along with three motorbikes and other valuable items during a break-in at the MP’s office.
This theft occurred just days after Mrs. Owusu’s defeat in the December 7 elections to the NDC’s Rev. Kweku Addo, who won with 31,866 votes, leaving Owusu with 26,575 votes.
At a media briefing on Thursday, Police Head of Public Affairs Directorate, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, confirmed that the stolen Nissan Pick-Up was recovered and is currently held at the Dansoman Police Station.
The police have intensified efforts to apprehend those responsible for the theft and other related crimes.
ACP Ansah-Akrofi also revealed that 17 additional arrests have been made in connection with attacks on offices, bringing the total number of arrests related to post-election disturbances to 123.
In addition to the recovery, the police are actively pursuing suspects involved in the vandalism of police stations in Techiman (Bono East Region) and Wenchi (Bono Region).
ACP Ansah-Akrofi vowed that authorities will not rest until all criminals are apprehended and brought to justice.
“We are coming for you, and we’ll get you arrested,” she stated.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has assured civil servants that they can safely resume work, with precautionary measures in place for their protection.
