The High Court has directed the Electoral Commission (EC) to recollate and declare the results for the Ablekuma North and Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituencies following allegations of anomalies during the collation process.
The decision comes after aggrieved parliamentary candidates from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) filed a writ seeking fresh elections in these constituencies.
They argued that the integrity of the results was compromised due to irregularities.
Presiding Judge Joseph Adu Owusu Agyeman, in a ruling on Friday, December 20, instructed the EC to recollate the results for Ablekuma North, dismissing objections raised by NDC’s legal counsel, Godwin Edudzi Tamaklo, and NPP’s lawyer, Gary Nimako.
Both legal teams argued that the results had already been declared and certified.
Despite these objections, the court upheld the petitioners’ claims, citing discrepancies in the collation process as sufficient grounds for the recollation.
The judge emphasized the importance of ensuring transparency and accuracy in the electoral process.
