Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has been recalled to France’s squad after being omitted by manager Didier Deschamps for the past two international breaks.
The 24-year-old has been named in France’s squad for the Nations League quarter-final against Croatia. Mbappe was left out of France’s squad for the October internationals as Deschamps said he did not want to take a “risk” on the forward’s fitness.
Deschamps then left the former Paris St-Germain striker out of his squad in November as a “one-off”. On both occasions, Mbappé was fit enough to play for his club. He is expected to retain the captaincy as France take on Croatia on March 20, before the return leg in Paris three days later.
Paris St-Germain winger Desire Doué has earned his first call-up to the national squad. Aston Villa full-back Lucas Digne and Arsenal centre-back William Saliba have also been selected.
