Political Marketing Analyst, Dr. Bernard Tutu-Boahene, has emphasized the significant influence of the Apostle Safo family in the political landscape of Dome Kwabenya, asserting that “you cannot do politics in Dome Kwabenya without the blessing of the Apostle Safo family.”

Speaking on Prime News on ABC News GH, he argued that the Safo family commands a strong following in the constituency, making their endorsement a crucial factor for any political aspirant.

He noted that former Dome Kwabenya MP aspirant, Mike Oquaye Jnr, failed to secure their support after winning the NPP primaries, a mistake that, according to him, created an opening for the NDC candidate to gain favor.

“He sat down for the NDC candidate to rather visit Apostle Safo for his blessing. What do you think his followers will think?” he questioned.

Dr. Tutu-Boahene also weighed in on the ongoing internal tensions within the NPP, calling for a more strategic approach in handling party grievances.

He commended the party for issuing a statement but stressed that this should be a moment for introspection and restructuring ahead of the 2028 elections.

“There are times things go low, and there are times things get high. It is an opportunity for the leadership of the party to actually appreciate grievances certain party members have and also understand that it is all not roses,” he noted.

He further urged the party to focus on reconciliation rather than sidelining strong members, warning that “internal party politics can be destructive, but if you are able to manage it well, you do that to your own advantage.”

Addressing the ongoing controversy surrounding former MP Sarah Adwoa Safo, Dr. Tutu-Boahene advised her to manage her emotions and find time to engage the party hierarchy.

“Even though some characters within the party may have offended you, you don’t punish the party before you come in to apologize,” he stated. Adwoa Safo, in recent interviews, has made shocking revelations about her struggles within the NPP, including being pushed to the backbench in Parliament and being labeled a traitor.

She also confirmed that she did not vote for the E-Levy and does not regret her decision.

With the Dome Kwabenya seat remaining a focal point of NPP’s internal battles, Dr. Tutu-Boahene emphasized that the party must prioritize unity and adhere to constitutional procedures for conflict resolution, stating, “It’s time for reorganization within the party’s architecture to bring all these people onboard in readiness for 2028. You don’t throw them offboard—it wouldn’t help.”
