A recent poll by Global InfoAnalytics has shown Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia leading the race for the 2028 presidential elections with an impressive 48.1% of the general electorate’s support.
The former Vice President, who is the NPP’s 2024 presidential candidate, continues to be a favorite among voters. His closest rival, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, a six-term Member of Parliament for Assin Central, trails significantly with 25.1%.
The poll highlights a strong preference for Bawumia across a wide spectrum of voters, underscoring his broad appeal and political dominance heading into the next presidential race.
Following Bawumia and Agyapong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Minister of Education, remains a distant third with 11% support from the electorate.
Other potential contenders such as Kwabena Agyapong, Brian Acheampong, and Francis Addai Nimo collectively hold 11%, reflecting a divided field with no clear challengers to Bawumia’s lead.
This voter preference demonstrates Bawumia’s continuing strength as the most favored candidate among the general public, setting him apart from other political figures in the race for the 2028 elections.
Within the NPP itself, however, the dynamics shift slightly, as 57% of party members are backing Dr. Bawumia to be their flagbearer.
The support from NPP’s base further solidifies his position within the party, leaving Kennedy Agyapong trailing with 22%, followed by Dr. Adutwum at 11%.
Despite competition from several party figures, Bawumia remains the undisputed choice among NPP supporters, a clear indication that his leadership is strongly preferred within the party ranks.
As the race to 2028 heats up, his position both within the party and among the general electorate looks increasingly secure.
