The Member of Parliament for Trobu Constituency, Hon. Gloria Owusu, has called on the Ministry of Roads and Highways to urgently prioritize the rehabilitation and construction of critical road infrastructure within her constituency.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, the Trobu MP expressed deep concern over the state of several roads across the Ga North Municipality. She cited the Asofa-Amamorley, Omanjor-Dwenehon, Golden Door–Yellow House, Agric Quarters–Abensu, Ayawaso–Achiato, Afiaman Community, Tantra and Capital Hill Area among others, and the 8.2km Pokuase–Katapor feeder road as being in urgent need of intervention.

In response to a parliamentary question, the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza acknowledged that no current road programmes are ongoing on the majority of these roads. However, engineering design studies are planned for consideration under the 2026 budget, subject to the availability of funds. For the Pokuase–Katapor feeder road, the Department of Feeder Roads has reportedly completed both engineering studies and cost estimates, awaiting implementation.

Unsatisfied with the delays, Hon. Gloria Owusu posed a series of follow-up questions in Parliament, seeking clarity on when the engineering studies for the other roads would commence, whether short-term maintenance interventions (such as grading or patching) would be undertaken in the interim and whether these roads would be classified as priority projects in the Ministry’s upcoming budget.

She also questioned whether any officials from the Ministry had conducted on-site assessments within the last six months to appreciate the level of deterioration.

The MP’s strong advocacy reflects growing frustration among constituents over the poor state of infrastructure in one of the fastest-growing parts of the Greater Accra Region. Community leaders and residents have lauded her efforts, calling on government agencies to respond with concrete timelines and action plans.

Hon. Gloria Owusu reaffirmed her commitment to championing development within Trobu, noting that road infrastructure remains one of the biggest barriers to socio-economic growth in her constituency.
