The Member of Parliament for Biakoye, Hon. Jean Marie Formadi, has called on residents across the constituency to actively participate in the nationwide two-day National Clean-Up Exercise initiated by President John Dramani Mahama, taking place on Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, 2026.
In a message to constituents, the MP stressed that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility that requires the commitment of every citizen. “President John Dramani Mahama has called on all Ghanaians to come out in their numbers and support this important national exercise. As the people of Biakoye, we must lead by example by cleaning our communities and promoting good sanitation practices,” she stated.
Hon. Jean -Marie encouraged residents to organize clean-up activities in their towns, markets, schools, lorry parks, and other public spaces, noting that proper sanitation is essential to preventing disease outbreaks, reducing flooding, and improving public health.
She also appealed to traditional leaders, assembly members, religious organizations, youth groups, market women, and community opinion leaders to mobilize their communities and ensure the success of the exercise.
Beyond the physical clean-up, the MP urged residents to use the opportunity to educate one another on proper waste disposal, environmental hygiene, and the importance of keeping their surroundings clean throughout the year.
The National Clean-Up Exercise is being coordinated nationwide with the support of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), community leaders, and sanitation agencies.
Hon. Jean Marie concluded with a rallying call:
“Let us all come together and make Biakoye cleaner, healthier, and safer for everyone. Together, we can build the clean and healthy communities we all deserve.”
