The African University College of Communications (AUCC) has officially received presidential assent to operate as a fully-fledged autonomous university, now known as the African University of Communications and Business (AUCB).
This announcement was made in a press statement released on December 20, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the university’s journey.
The transition to AUCB reflects the institution’s broader mission to combine excellence in communication and media studies with strong industry and technology-oriented programs in business and entrepreneurship.
The achievement is the result of years of collaboration and mentorship from esteemed institutions such as the University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, University of Education, Winneba, and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, among others.
Prof. Isaac Abeku Blankson, President of AUCB, expressed gratitude to these institutions and highlighted that the university’s new status would enable it to provide world-class education and professional development opportunities to its students.
Founded in 2002 by Honorable Kojo Yankah, AUCB has long been a pioneer in journalism and communication education in Africa. Over the years, it has expanded its offerings and nurtured influential figures in Ghana’s media, communication, and business sectors.
