Bibiani GoldStars have officially etched their name into the annals of Ghanaian football after capturing their maiden Ghana Premier League title with a dominant 4-0 win over Accra Lions on the final day of the 2024/25 season.
Just four years after gaining promotion to the topflight, the Miners completed a fairytale rise by lifting the league trophy in front of a packed and jubilant crowd at Dun’s Park.
Entering the final round level on points with title contenders Nations FC and with Asante Kotoko also in close pursuit, GoldStars knew nothing short of victory would be enough to claim the championship. Fortunately for the Bibiani-based outfit, their closest rivals faltered—Nations FC’s game against Basake Holy Stars ended prematurely due to fan violence, and Kotoko suffered defeat against Vision FC.
Seizing the opportunity, GoldStars got off to a flying start. Just four minutes in, Abdul Farouk Amoaful fired home the opener to spark early celebrations in the stands. Fifteen minutes later, Kelvin Oppong tapped in the second after a well-worked move down the right flank, putting the Miners in firm control.
Accra Lions, already relegated before kickoff, showed signs of settling into the game but failed to pose any real threat in the final third. GoldStars’ defensive line stood firm, nullifying any attempts at a comeback.

After the break, the Miners continued their onslaught. Samuel Atta Kumi made it 3-0 with a thunderous finish, and Frank Amankwah added the fourth just five minutes later to seal a commanding and memorable win.
The final whistle confirmed Bibiani GoldStars as champions of Ghana for the very first time, with their 63-point tally placing them above all competition at the summit of the league standings.
Head coach Frimpong Manso, who masterminded the club’s historic campaign, was full of praise for his players and the fans, calling it a “dream come true” for the entire town of Bibiani.
This triumph not only secures domestic glory but also a coveted ticket to next season’s CAF Champions League, marking the dawn of a new era for the rising powerhouse from the Western North Region.
