The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured newly posted teachers that payment of their delayed salaries is imminent, following budgetary allocations made to address the issue.
According to the Public Relations Officer of GES, Daniel Fenyi, the Service has taken steps to resolve the matter, stating, “We are currently at the final lap—that is to release the funds as salaries.”
Speaking on ABC News GH, Fenyi confirmed that while 2,113 affected teachers have received their staff IDs, their salaries are pending due to administrative delays.
He added that a committee was formed in April to engage representatives of the aggrieved teachers and clarify all outstanding issues.
“There is a budget allocation for that. That one has been sorted,” he said, noting that the GES has completed most procedural steps and only awaits the disbursement of funds.
While no fixed date was given, Fenyi assured teachers that the process was nearing completion and they could “expect a positive outcome very soon.”
