Ebi Bright of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been declared the winner of the highly contested Tema Central Parliamentary election.
Bright secured a total of 18,539 votes, narrowly defeating her opponent, Charles Forson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 18,421 votes.
The razor-thin margin highlights the intensity and competitiveness of the race, with both candidates campaigning vigorously for the crucial seat.
Bright’s victory represents a significant achievement for both her and the NDC, as they successfully unseated the NPP in this key constituency.
Her win is seen as part of a broader momentum that helped propel the NDC to success in the 2024 parliamentary elections, alongside the party’s presidential victory.
This outcome contributes to the NDC’s growing influence in Ghana’s political landscape.
In addition to Bright’s success, the NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, was declared the President-elect, having won 56.55% of the votes.
The NDC also captured a parliamentary majority, securing over 170 seats, including key constituencies traditionally held by the NPP.
This strong performance provides Mahama with a solid mandate as he prepares to take office once again.
