The Electoral Commission (EC) has denied a request from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to broadcast live a meeting set for September 10, 2024, that seeks to address discrepancies in the Provisional Voters Register (PVR).
In a letter dated September 4, 2024, the NDC sought approval for a live feed of the meeting to enhance transparency, but the EC has deemed this unnecessary.
The EC argued that the issues identified by the NDC, including missing names, misplaced voters, and duplicate images, are not unprecedented and thus do not warrant a live broadcast.
The Commission emphasized its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the PVR and assured that the meeting will proceed as planned.
Despite the EC’s decision, it reaffirmed its dedication to addressing the discrepancies raised by the NDC.
The upcoming meeting will proceed without live coverage, but the Commission has pledged to ensure the PVR’s accuracy and reliability ahead of the December 7 general elections.
