Parliament was on Tuesday assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the case of 2,637 containers consigned to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), which have now been retrieved, far exceeding the initial report of 1,300 missing containers.
Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga disclosed this on the floor of Parliament, emphasizing that the Energy Minister has committed to uncovering the full facts.
“A thorough investigation will be conducted. The Minister has promised this house a thorough investigation,” Ayariga said, hinting at serious lapses in oversight and accountability.
The revelation has sparked concerns across the political divide, with calls growing for sanctions against any individuals or institutions found complicit in the container mismanagement.
