The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has issued a warning against the growing trend of unauthorized individuals wearing military-pattern uniforms during demonstrations and other public events.
In a statement on Monday, October 14, GAF expressed concerns over the rising misuse of military attire, particularly by those providing security for public figures and operating in illegal mining areas. Despite previous warnings, this worrying practice continues to increase.
GAF emphasized that the unauthorized use of military uniforms poses a serious security risk and could tarnish the image of the armed forces.
“The attention of the Ghana Armed Forces has been drawn to the unauthorized and unlawful use of military-pattern uniforms by protesters and individuals in illegal mining areas,” the statement read, underscoring the potential dangers associated with this behavior.
In response to these threats, GAF has vowed to take decisive action, including arresting those who violate the regulations.
The military urged citizens to report any suspicious activities involving unauthorized military attire, warning that violators will face the full rigour of the law.
With the 2024 elections approaching, GAF has reassured the public of its commitment to maintaining peace and security in Ghana.
