A naming ceremony at Gbawe Zero in the Greater Accra Region ended in tragedy on Friday, June 20, when a violent clash between two rival Asafoatse turned deadly.
Eyewitnesses reported that the ceremony, meant to be a joyful gathering, took a dark turn when a heated disagreement between the traditional leaders escalated into gunfire.
Two individuals were shot during the chaos, leaving one dead on the spot while the other was rushed to Legon Hospital in critical condition.
The Gbawe Police have since taken over the investigation, although the identities of the individuals involved and the motive behind the altercation are yet to be disclosed.
The incident has shocked the local community, with many expressing disbelief that a cultural event could end in such violence. Police have yet to issue an official statement as investigations continue.
