The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has fixed Saturday, October 3, 2026, for its National Executive elections, beginning the party’s process of selecting officers to lead the party at the national level.

The nomination period will run from August 17 to August 22, with prospective candidates expected to submit their completed forms between August 23 and 27.

The party has also announced the fees for the various positions. Aspirants for National Chairman will pay GH¢50,000, while those seeking the Vice Chairman position will pay GH¢30,000. The nomination fee for General Secretary is GH¢25,000.

Candidates contesting other national executive positions will pay GH¢10,000, while aspirants for the special wings—Nasara, Women and Youth—will pay GH¢8,000.

Chairman of the NPP National Elections Committee, Frederick Opare-Ansah, urged prospective aspirants and stakeholders to take note of the electoral calendar and comply with the rules governing the contest.

“We urge every prospective aspirant and stakeholder to take careful notes of these dates. The committee intends to adhere to timetable so that the party can proceed towards the National Delegates Conference in an orderly and predictable manner.”

The party has further appealed to aspirants and their supporters to conduct their campaigns peacefully and maintain decorum throughout the electoral process.

NPP election timetable

According to the timetable released by the party, vetting of aspirants will take place from August 31 to September 3, with the results expected to be published on September 5.

The period for filing appeals against vetting decisions will be September 6 and 7, followed by meetings of the National Executive Committee and National Council on September 10.

The formal notice of poll is scheduled for September 14, ahead of the national elections on October 3.

The National Elections Committee is chaired by Frederick Opare-Ansah, with Abena Osei Asare as Vice Chair. Other members are Oboshie Sai Coffie, Frank Davies, Anthony Karbo, Salam Ama Mpianimaa Damata, Eric Ntori, the Ashanti Regional Chairman and Evans Nimako, who serves as Secretary.

Vetting and appeals

The NPP has also constituted a nine-member Vetting Committee chaired by Cecilia Abena Dapaah. Its members include Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Salifu Saeed, Amb. (Dr.) Barffour Agyei-Bawuah, Elizabeth Ohene, Osei Prempeh, Joyce Opoku Boateng, Arnold Boateng and Evans Nimako, who is the Secretary.

A separate Appeals Committee, chaired by Joe Ghartey, has also been established to handle grievances arising from the vetting process.

The committee includes Rev. S.K. Boafo, Anthony Namoo, George Mireku Duker, Dr. Akbar Yussif Rohullah Khomeni, Gifty Ohene Konadu, Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh and Laurette Korkor Asante, with Augustine Odei serving as Secretary.

Under the party’s electoral arrangements, an aspirant or party member who is dissatisfied with a decision of the National Vetting Committee may submit a written petition to the Appeals Committee.

The Appeals Committee is required to determine such petitions within 48 hours. Any person dissatisfied with its decision may subsequently appeal to the National Executive Committee, whose decision will be final and binding.

The October 3 elections are expected to pave the way for the NPP’s next phase of national-level leadership as the party prepares for its National Delegates Conference.
