A coalition of over 490 youth organizers from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has rallied strong support for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the party’s 2026 presidential primary.
Comprising substantive and deputy youth organizers from constituencies nationwide, the group met on July 29, 2025, to affirm their backing for Bawumia’s leadership and vision for Ghana’s future.
The youth coalition praised Bawumia’s “unwavering commitment to national development, digital transformation, sound economic reforms, and consistent dedication to empowering Ghana’s young people.”
The youth organizers have mobilized resources to purchase Bawumia’s nomination forms, which they plan to pick up on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
This symbolic gesture underlines their confidence in his ability to lead the country beyond 2028. The group highlighted his “innovative policies and forward-looking governance approach” as key reasons for their support.
Akumbo Samuel Wakiki, Zebilla Constituency Youth Organiser and Upper East Regional Representative, expressed optimism about growing support.
Speaking on ABC News GH, he said, “We have 490 supporters now, we are optimistic that by close of the day we will rally more than 99% of youth in the Party.”
He described Bawumia as a “formidable force” and insisted the youth are united in their conviction that he “is the one who can give us power.”
