Prominent NDC figure and Mayor of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, Ebi Bright, joined other party stalwarts at polling stations in the Ablekuma North Constituency on Friday, as constituents voted in a long-awaited parliamentary rerun.

Speaking to ABC News GH reporter Andy Oppong Dankyi, she said, “Well, this is the only way to resolve the issue. We know the mandate is ours and so we are here to protect it.”

Her comment stresses the National Democratic Congress’s strong belief that the parliamentary seat rightfully belongs to them following months of dispute.

The rerun comes after over six months of legislative vacuum in Ablekuma North, with no parliamentary representative since the December 2024 general election.

“Ablekuma North deserves a representative—but not just anyone, but one with heart, dedication,” Ebi Bright emphasized, voicing frustration over the prolonged legal and political impasse.

The Electoral Commission ordered the rerun in 19 polling stations after concerns about the credibility of results from the initial election.

“Today is hopefully the conclusion of this matter,” she told reporters, adding that “forever these constituents will always be on the minds of everyone that matters.”

Her remarks reflect the growing urgency among political stakeholders to resolve the stalemate and restore representation to the constituency.

NDC supporters, visibly energized by the presence of key party figures, turned out in strong numbers to cast their votes, determined to reclaim what they view as a delayed but deserved victory.
