A horrific incident has shaken the Abrepo Asubonteng community in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti region, leaving residents in shock and grief.
An 8-year-old boy, identified as Kwaku, was brutally butchered to death by a suspected madman, stirring outrage and fear among local residents.
The tragedy unfolded when Kwaku and his sister were sent to buy a rubber bag and encountered the suspect on their way home.
According to eyewitnesses who spoke on the Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9 FM with Sir John, the madman, believed to be in his 30s, had recently arrived in the community with his family.
The sister managed to escape the attack, but Kwaku was caught and mercilessly slaughtered. Community members attempted to intervene, but the madman’s possession of two sharp cutlasses intimidated them.
“We wanted to help, but we were too scared,” one eyewitness lamented, highlighting the horror of the situation.
The police arrived at the scene but were initially unable to contain the situation and temporarily left, a delay that tragically allowed the madman to commit the heinous crime.
In a shocking turn of events, however, community members eventually mustered the courage to confront and kill the suspect.
Both Kwaku and the perpetrator have been sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) morgue, as the community grapples with the aftermath of this brutal act.
