A 13-year-old girl narrowly escaped a horrifying fate after being abducted by four unidentified men in Aburi-Kitase, Akuapem South Municipality, on Friday night.
The teenager, who resides near the home of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, vanished around 8 p.m. while heading to purchase food.
Sources report that the abductors had bound the victim’s hands and legs and were preparing to harm her, allegedly planning to slash her breast as part of a ritual act.
Their sinister plans were thwarted when a good Samaritan stumbled upon the scene and fired warning shots, causing the assailants to flee.
Frank Amankwah, the Assembly Member for Kitase Electoral Area, confirmed the incident and expressed concern over the increasing insecurity in the area, particularly due to malfunctioning streetlights along the Ayi Mensah to Peduase Lodge stretch.
“I have made several complaints about these traffic issues. From Ayi Mensah to Peduase Lodge, the streetlights situated there are all not functioning. Boys from Ashaiman, Madina, Nungua, and nearby towns all come here, so if something like this happens, we cannot identify the source of it,” Amankwah lamented.
He called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and security agencies to address the rising prevalence of social vices near the Peduase Presidential Lodge, urging immediate action to ensure public safety.
