Sammi Awuku, the Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), has officially resigned from his position.
In a letter addressed to President John Dramani Mahama, Mr. Awuku explained that his election as a Member of Parliament for the Akwapim North Constituency necessitated the decision.
“I write to formally inform you of my resignation as Director General of NLA effective January 13, 2025,” the letter stated.
He added, “I have been elected as a Member of Parliament for the Akwapim North Constituency and have been duly sworn in to represent my constituents. In the light of this new responsibility, I wish to focus my efforts on serving as a Member of Parliament.”
Mr. Awuku, who previously served as the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was appointed to the NLA role in August 2021 by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
His resignation letter was also copied to Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, and other key officials, signaling a well-coordinated transition.
