The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has announced plans for a massive demonstration on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, to protest the withholding of WASSCE results by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

The student body expects thousands of students from across the country to join the protest, demanding transparency and fairness in WAEC’s examination processes.

Speaking on ABC Midday News, NUGS Chairman, Noah Osei Asenso stated, “We are expecting thousands of students. In the Central Region alone, we planned for six buses. We are hitting the Obra Spot at 9 AM and marching to WAEC to present our petition.”

He added that the demonstration would also seek government intervention in WAEC’s operations to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

According to Asenso, the delayed results have led to significant distress among students and parents, as many candidates are unable to proceed with their educational plans.

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) has thrown its support behind the demonstration, urging WAEC to act swiftly.

Asenso warned that the protests would continue until WAEC meets their demands and ensures fairness in future examinations.
