On Wednesday March 26, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Johnson Asiama, will be expected to appear before Parliament to brief the House on the circumstances leading to the collapse of the banks and other financial institutions from 2013 to 2024.
But First Deputy Minority Whip, Habib Iddrisu says it will not be appropriate for the Governor to address the said matter, noting that some banks are in court over the collapse.
He suggested that the Majority leadership should provide the names of the banks that the Governor will speak to, to avoid veering into contempt matters by members.
However, the Majority Chief Whip, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor contends that the issue goes beyond politics and urged his colleagues to agree for the Governor to address the House.
The First Deputy Majority Leader, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan said the matter was discussed with the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin and asked Habib Iddrisu to consult his leader.
