Mariam Hussein Mohammed, an aspirant for the position of Student Representative Council (SRC) President at Presbyterian University College, is quickly making a name for herself as a force to be reckoned with. Known for her warm heart and philanthropic spirit, Mariam’s growing influence is set to shake up the political scene, both within her campus and beyond.
At just a student, Mariam has shown a level of maturity and empathy that stands out in her university and the surrounding community. Her generosity knows no bounds—whether it’s donating bags of rice and oil to families in need, gifting a wheelchair to a physically challenged individual, or installing street lights to improve security in Agogo, Mariam’s contributions have spoken volumes about her leadership style.
Mariam’s ambition is clear: she hopes to become the next SRC President. Her vision goes beyond simply serving her fellow students—she wants to make a difference, addressing key concerns like student welfare, community development, and equitable education. If elected, she has pledged to continue supporting students in need, ensuring that no one is left behind in their educational journey.
Her running mate, Boafo Ebenezer Dwira, couldn’t be prouder of her efforts. “Mariam has done so much already for our school and the surrounding communities,” he says. “From organizing free Easter rides for students to ensuring our safety and well-being, her heart is in the right place.”
Local National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) aspirant, Ridwan Yakubu, has gone as far as to call Mariam a “woman king,” praising her for her selfless acts that have positively impacted the lives of many.
However, Mariam’s ambition is not confined to just her university. As a passionate advocate for private institutions, she has made it clear that she will push for greater government support for private universities in Ghana, particularly through scholarships and funding. Her desire to uplift not only her peers but all students reflects a political vision that resonates with many.
