The former Director of the Ghana School of Law, Kwaku Ansa-Asare, has intimated that the suspension of the Chief Justice is not a threat to judicial independence.
According to Kwaku Ansa-Asare, the government’s decision to suspend Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo is not an attack on the judiciary but, in his words it’s an attack on public policy regarding appointment of public officers.
His remarks follow the government’s suspension of the chief Justice after multiple petitions were filed against her, alleging misconduct and incompetence.
Meanwhile, the former Director General of the Ghana School of Law has shut down calls for the resignation of suspended CJ Gertrude Torkornoo.
According to him, he would not have resigned if he was in her position but would have opted for an early retirement to save his dignity.
