The Electoral Commission (EC) will begin printing ballot papers on Wednesday, August 20, ahead of the Akwatia parliamentary by-election.
The confirmation came after a high-level meeting on Tuesday convened by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) with representatives of political parties to review preparations for the polls.
Speaking to the media after the engagement, the Commission’s Director of Electoral Services, Benjamin Bano-Bioh, said, “As of now, we are going to start the printing of ballots from tomorrow.
Procurement has already been done. We have procured all the materials required for the election, so we are ready.”
The IGP assured political parties of the Police Service’s readiness to safeguard peace and the integrity of the electoral process.
The Akwatia by-election was necessitated by the passing of the constituency’s Member of Parliament, Ernest Yaw Kumi of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who died in July 2025.
