The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has announced its decision not to support or participate in any activities organized by the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA).
In an official statement issued by the Association and signed by its Head of Communications, Mr. Benjamin Takyi Addo, the leadership expressed strong disappointment with GUTA over what it described as neglect and lack of respect.
According to the statement, the decision follows GUTA’s failure to officially invite the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association to the inauguration ceremony of its newly elected president.
The Association stated that such an omission was unacceptable, considering its role and contribution to Ghana’s trading and spare parts sector.
“We, the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association, will not involve ourselves in any activities organized by GUTA because we were not officially invited to the inauguration of their new president,” the statement said.
The Association further noted that it felt ignored and sidelined during GUTA’s official programs, a situation it believes undermines unity and cooperation among trader groups in the country.
The leadership emphasized that mutual respect, inclusiveness, and proper communication are essential for effective collaboration among trade associations. Until these concerns are addressed, the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association says it will maintain its stance.
