Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has revealed that NPP politician Bryan Acheampong gave party supporters GH¢100,000 just three months before the 2024 general elections, contradicting claims that the funds were provided six months prior.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on ABC In The Morning, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Akwasi Acquah expressed disappointment that Bryan Acheampong appears to be using the financial contribution to score political points ahead of the NPP presidential primaries.
“I am disappointed that Bryan is using the money he gave us in 2024 to score political points now,” Akwasi Acquah said, emphasizing that the support had been extended at a critical period during the campaign but should not be politicized at this stage.
Akwasi Acquah, who is yet to declare support for any candidate in the NPP presidential race, also noted that Acheampong has not given him sufficient reason to back him over Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
“Bryan Acheampong has not given me enough reason to support him ahead of Bawumia,” the Akim Oda MP stated.
The revelations come as the NPP intensifies preparations for its presidential primaries, with party members and stakeholders closely watching developments that could shape the party’s future leadership.
