Ghana is set to benefit from France’s National Health Platform following high-level bilateral talks between President John Dramani Mahama and French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
The West African nation has been selected as the first beneficiary of the initiative, described as a health compact aimed at strengthening healthcare systems and supporting ongoing reforms in the sector.
The announcement was made during a meeting at the Élysée Palace, where both leaders discussed a broad range of issues including health, agriculture, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and regional security.
President Mahama welcomed the development and expressed appreciation to the French government for the partnership, noting that it would significantly support efforts to improve healthcare delivery in Ghana.
The engagement formed part of President Mahama’s one-day official visit to France, during which he also co-chaired the One Health Summit 2026 in Lyon.
President Macron commended his Ghanaian counterpart for his contributions at the summit and acknowledged the importance of the Accra Reset Initiative, which President Mahama said has produced tangible outcomes in addressing global health challenges.
Beyond the health sector, the two leaders explored opportunities for deeper cooperation in agriculture to enhance food security and promote year-round farming. They also discussed potential partnerships in artificial intelligence and maternal health as part of broader efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.
The latest development underscores growing collaboration between Ghana and France, particularly in critical sectors aimed at driving sustainable development and improving livelihoods.
