Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has defended the Bank of Ghana following the release of its 2025 Audited Financial Statements.
Addressing a press conference on behalf of the Minority Caucus in Parliament, the lawmaker stated that the caucus had reviewed the central bank’s 136-page audited financial report for the 2025 fiscal year.
He explained that the briefing was aimed at responding to claims by the National Democratic Congress, (NDC), which he described as “propaganda” and a “public relations spin” intended to misrepresent the financial position of the Bank of Ghana.
According to Hon. Oppong Nkrumah, the Minority’s objective is to present the “real numbers” and explain the implications of the central bank’s operations, while countering suggestions that the government or the Bank of Ghana is concealing economic challenges.
The discussion focused largely on the Bank of Ghana’s reported losses and its policy solvency — the ability of the central bank to finance its operations and stabilize the national currency without relying heavily on government intervention.
