Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has announced a private sector-led initiative that will see Ghana’s tourism brand, “Visit Ghana,” displayed on the front of Sunderland Football Club’s jerseys during the 2026/27 English Premier League season.
The partnership forms part of a major international tourism promotion campaign aimed at increasing Ghana’s global visibility by leveraging the worldwide audience of the Premier League.

Addressing the 37th Sitting of Parliament, Mr Bagbin disclosed that discussions with the English club were at an advanced stage and that Sunderland had expressed interest in the proposal.
“We are entering a formal engagement with them to put Visit Ghana on their jerseys and all paraphernalia.
“We have gone far with the discussions, and therefore they are showing interest,” he said.
Mr Bagbin clarified that the initiative is not being financed by Parliament but is instead being driven by private sector investment, with Parliament providing leadership and coordination.
“This is not being sponsored by Parliament. In fact, the main sponsor is from the private sector; we are leading under my canopy to get this done.
“The GFA, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation and the Ministry of Finance have also been very supportive in this project,” he stated.
The partnership is expected to provide Ghana with extensive global visibility through Premier League broadcasts, digital platforms and international media channels.
