The family of Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, one of the eight people who lost their lives in the military helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom on August 6, 2025, has appealed to Ghanaians to continue remembering the bereaved families in their prayers, saying the pain of the tragedy has not faded with time.
The appeal was made during the National Inter-Faith Memorial Service held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, to commemorate the first anniversary of the fatal crash.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Percy Anala said the passing of a year had done little to ease the emotional burden left by the loss of their loved one.
“Today marks one year since our lives changed forever. Though a year has passed, it feels like yesterday. The loss of our beloved Peter Bafemi Anala remains profoundly painful.”
He said the absence of the late Air Force officer continues to be deeply felt by those closest to him, particularly his wife, young daughter, mother and the wider family, who have had to navigate life without him.
“The last year has not been easy. We have faced grief, unanswered questions, and difficult adjustments, especially for his wife, young daughter, mother and the entire family.”
Despite the enduring sorrow, Percy Anala said the family has drawn strength from their faith and the compassion shown by Ghanaians since the tragedy.
He expressed appreciation for the prayers, encouragement and acts of kindness extended to the family over the past year, describing them as a source of comfort during a difficult period.
Remembering the seven other victims who perished in the crash, he noted that their families continue to endure the same pain and loss.
“We ask you to keep the families of the fallen in your prayers. Though time passes, grief remains. Your ongoing love, encouragement and support are priceless.”
The family also conveyed its gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama and the Government of Ghana for the assistance and solidarity shown to the bereaved families over the past year.
According to the family, the support offered during one of the most painful periods of their lives has been deeply appreciated and will not be forgotten.
