Ghanaian Rapper Sarkodie has urged the government and private sector to support Ghana’s creative industry, arguing that his flagship Rapperholic concert generates economic opportunities that extend far beyond the stage.
In a social media post following the second consecutive Kumasi edition of Rapperholic on Saturday, October 24, 2026, the award-winning musician said the event generates economic activity beyond the music performances and ticket sales.
“Rapperholic is bigger than a concert!” he wrote, pointing to the event’s potential to support tourism, hospitality, transportation, food, fashion, media and advertising businesses.
According to Sarkodie, the concert’s economic value also includes employment opportunities, payments to suppliers, spending by visitors and commercial prospects created for businesses within the entertainment value chain.
He noted that the benefits extend beyond the event itself, with visitor spending and increased commercial activity presenting opportunities for businesses across Kumasi, Accra and the wider Ghanaian economy.
The rapper called on the government and private sector to support an ecosystem that allows Ghanaian entertainment to generate measurable economic returns, create jobs, support businesses and attract visitors.
“To the government and private sector, the opportunity is to build an ecosystem where Ghanaian entertainment generates measurable economic value, supports businesses, creates jobs and attracts visitors,” he stated.
Sarkodie further urged stakeholders to invest in the creative economy, arguing that its potential extends well beyond performances on stage.
“Let’s invest in our creative economy. The potential goes far beyond the stage,” he added.
Having successfully held the concert in Kumasi for a second consecutive year, the next stop for Rapperholic is Accra, where the event is expected to take place on December 25.
