Eight individuals, including Nana Amoako Ababio II, Regent of Mankrong-Junction, have been granted bail by the Agona Swedru Magistrate’s Court after allegedly removing a billboard featuring Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and NPP parliamentary candidate Mrs. Hannah Asamoah.

The court, presided over by Mr. Victor Kusi, set the bail at GH₵10,000 each for six of the accused, with the requirement of three sureties each. The case has been adjourned to Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

Earlier, two octogenarians involved were granted a higher bail sum of GH₵40,000 when they appeared in court on July 16, 2024.

The court has ordered the defendants to reinstall the billboard to maintain peace and tranquility in the area.

Following the court session, Mrs. Asamoah urged party supporters to avoid removing or defacing political posters and billboards to prevent legal consequences and political conflicts.

She emphasized the need for issue-based campaigning and called on political leaders to discourage actions that incite conflicts among supporters.

“The arrest and prosecution of these people must serve as a warning to all political party supporters,” she stated, addressing the recurring issue in Agona East during election years.
