The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) is set to resume its strike on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, just one month after concluding what was their longest industrial action.
This decision comes in response to the government’s ongoing failure to honor previous agreements regarding teachers’ allowances, a situation that has left many educators disillusioned.
CETAG’s spokesperson, Dominic Owusu, conveyed the association’s frustration, highlighting that despite earlier assurances from the government, the promised allowances have yet to be disbursed.
He emphasized that the strike aims to force meaningful dialogue and push for a satisfactory resolution to the members’ demands, as their patience has run thin.
With the strike date drawing closer, CETAG has issued a warning: if there is no resolution by the end of this week, they will proceed with the planned action.
As the clock ticks down, the college teachers are determined to advocate for their rights and ensure that their voices are heard in the face of unmet commitments.
