The National Communications Authority (NCA) has confirmed that MultiChoice Ghana has agreed to participate in a stakeholder committee to review subscription pricing for DStv in the country.
This follows directives from the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, who instructed the company to engage stakeholders or risk suspension of its authorization.
In a statement issued on Sunday, September 7, 2025, the NCA said MultiChoice had consented to the process after further discussions.
The company had earlier released a statement on September 5, insisting it had not agreed to reduce subscription fees.
However, MultiChoice has now pledged to respect due process and Ghanaian law by taking part in the review.
The first meeting of the stakeholder committee is scheduled for Monday, September 8.
The NCA emphasized that the outcome of the committee’s deliberations will only be known after its work is completed. Meanwhile, the regulator has already received a response from MultiChoice regarding its pricing model and the earlier notice of intent to suspend its license.
The development comes after heightened exchanges between the Ministry and MultiChoice last week. Samuel Nartey George had warned that the company faced a September 6 deadline to lower prices or risk losing authorization to operate.
He later told the media that MultiChoice had shifted its position and agreed to discuss reductions. The company, however, clarified in its statement that while it remains open to dialogue, no final agreement on price cuts had been reached.
The NCA has assured the public that further updates will be provided as the committee carries out its mandate. For now, MultiChoice’s participation signals a significant step toward resolving the long-standing concerns over DStv subscription costs in Ghana.
