Sheriff Appiah, CEO of Dreamzland Pub Kitchen and Lounge at Dansoman, has raised concerns over surging electricity tariffs, which he says are pushing many small businesses to the edge.
“Electricity tariffs are a real concern; they’re quite high,” he remarked.
Describing the financial strain these utility bills impose, Appiah added, “Electricity bills are killing us. Whether we have customers or not, our gadgets still have to run.”
For hospitality businesses like his, where power is a necessity, balancing expenses with revenue has become increasingly challenging.
In an interview with ABC NEWS GH, Appiah urged the government to consider a startup support policy that would grant new businesses a few years free from burdensome utility costs.
He believes such a measure could provide stability for emerging enterprises, especially those in hospitality and tourism, an industry he describes as evolving yet heavily reliant on financial support and visionary partnerships.
