Policy Analyst, Peter Tekper has emphasized that for the government to effectively tackle Ghana’s rising unemployment rate, a clear and structured exit plan is essential.
In an interview with ABC News Ghana, Tekper explained that after young people undergo training and acquire skills, there must be a proper exit strategy in place to ensure they can transition into the workforce and meet the demands of the current job market.
He also suggested that the funds allocated by the Youth Employment Agency to support work initiatives should be funnelled through educational institutions like technical and vocational institutions.
Tekper argued that when these funds are given directly to individuals, they are often viewed as rewards with limited practical value.
By channelling the funds through educational systems, the government can ensure they are used more effectively and purposefully.
Meanwhile, Peter Tekper added that when such funds are amalgamated, a proper blueprint will be in place, which he believes will also help reduce budget overruns.
