International relations expert Dr. Ishmael Hlover has urged Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister for Foreign Affairs designate, to adopt a balanced and strategic approach to diplomacy.
Speaking to ABC NEWS GH on Tuesday, January 21, Dr. Hlover emphasized that Ghana’s unique position in West Africa calls for initiatives that strengthen its role in regional organizations like ECOWAS and multilateral institutions such as the United Nations.
“He must be well-balanced with his approach to diplomacy,” Dr. Hlover noted, highlighting the critical importance of strategic leadership in advancing Ghana’s influence on the global stage.
Profile of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (born 11 August 1980) is a Ghanaian politician and a member of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana. He represents the North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region as a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Ablakwa has held various significant positions, including serving as a Deputy Minister of State under Presidents John Atta Mills and John Mahama.
He was also appointed as the Foreign Affairs Minister-designate during President John Mahama’s second term.
Since joining Parliament, he has served as the Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee. Additionally, Ablakwa chairs the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) committee, which was established by President Mahama to investigate the recovery of looted state resources and corruption-related activities.
Born on 11 August 1980, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa hails from Aveyime-Battor in the Volta Region of Ghana.
