The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has officially inaugurated a nine-member Board of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), with a clear mandate to drive domestic revenue growth and uphold high standards of integrity within the institution.
The newly constituted board is chaired by Hon. George Ricketts Hagan, a former Deputy Finance Minister and current Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Forson underscored the central role the GRA plays in sustaining national development, noting that the success of key government policies and programs hinges on the authority’s ability to mobilize sufficient revenue.
“It is time to look within and extensively raise domestic revenue to anchor government expenditure,” he emphasized.
He also called on the board to implement decisive strategies to combat smuggling and revenue leakages, particularly across Ghana’s borders.
Other members of the board include GRA Commissioner Mr. Anthony Sarpong, Mr. Patrick Nomo, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Dr. Zakaria Mumuni, Madam Faustina Nelson, Mr. George Ayiretey, Hon. Laadi Ayamba, and Mr. Francis-Xavier Sosu.
With this diverse mix of expertise from finance, law, and public administration, the board is expected to bring renewed oversight and strategic direction to the GRA at a time when boosting domestic revenue remains a top government priority.
