President John Dramani Mahama has donated GH₵100,000 to residents who assisted in recovering the bodies of victims from the recent military helicopter crash in the Dampia Range Forest Reserve, Adansi Akrofrom District.

The gesture, delivered on behalf of the government by the National Chairman of the NDC, was intended to acknowledge the bravery and community spirit of those involved in the recovery efforts.

“President Mahama has asked me to represent him and thank the residents who helped us recover the bodies of our eight men. We have a plaque for all of you in honour of what you did,” he told the residents.

In addition to the GH₵100,000 cash reward for the rescuers, the Adansi Traditional Council received GH₵20,000 to assist with final rites.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah also announced that all 13 individuals involved in the body recovery efforts would be offered jobs according to their individual capabilities.

The President further assured the community that steps would be taken to improve local infrastructure, including fixing the roads.

“President Mahama has also assured to fix your road,” Mr. Asiedu Nketiah added.

The helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians, including high-ranking officials such as Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence; Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology; and other key figures in government and the Ghana Air Force.

The victims were on official duty at the time of the accident, sparking national mourning and prompting swift action by both government and local communities to recover the bodies and support the bereaved families.
