Police in Assin Wurakese Camp, Central Region, have arrested a 43-year-old woman, Esi Affumwaa, for allegedly biting the testicles of 36-year-old farmer, Osman, during a violent altercation over an unpaid 20 pesewas debt.
The incident, which occurred around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, left Osman hospitalized with severe injuries.
According to Osman, the dispute started after he purchased a cigarette for GH₵1.20 from Affumwaa’s drinking spot, initially paying GH₵1 and promising to settle the remaining 20 pesewas later.
When he returned the following day with GH₵5, assuming the debt would be deducted, Affumwaa insisted that he still owed her.
A heated argument ensued, escalating into a fight where Osman alleged that Affumwaa, with the help of her children, attacked him, beat him mercilessly, and bit his testicles.
The Assin Fosu District Police Commander, ASP Jacob Kumedzro, confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations were ongoing. Meanwhile, Osman, who was rushed to the hospital by bystanders after bleeding profusely, has since been discharged.
